SPIPTM Installation Procedures (version 5.1 or newer)

These procedures apply to SPIPTM version 5.1 and later. If you have an older version we recommend installing the newest SPIPTM version or to follow the previous version of this document; both can be downloaded at http://www.imagemet.com/ftp.

The licensing system is described in general in the Licensing section

If you have any questions regarding the installation procedure, please contact Image Metrology at support@imagemet.com

License dongle installation

The dongles do not require any special drivers, so all that is required to install the dongle on a PC is to insert the dongle and wait for Windows to report that the device has been successfully initialized.

Dongles are usually supplied empty, i.e. not activated with license information. Before it can be used by SPIPTM, the dongle must be activated by running the activation program provided to you by Image Metrology.

Procedure for setting up a “Shared dongle” scheme

The "Shared dongle" scheme requires that one PC is designated as license server, and the dongle is then installed on this machine. SPIPTM does not need to be installed on the server; instead the License Server installer must be run to install the License Server executable. This installer is available from the Image Metrology website as a separate download at http://www.imagemet.com/ftp. To download the License Server installer, you will need the user name and password that you received when you purchased SPIPTM.

When the license server installer is executed, the user is prompted to select a folder that will be shared on the local network with read/write permissions. Clients connect to the license by specifying the path to the license sharing file, which is placed in this folder. This is done from within the SPIPTM program, either through the Evaluation dialog, or through the License Management dialog. For further details, see Setting up the License below.
