| SPIP™ v. 5.1.0 (2010-03-23) |
| Basic Module |
| SPIP has been expanded with a license management interface.
In the new License Management Dialog, it is possible with a single mouse click to switch between three types of licenses: Local Dongle License, Shared Dongle License, and Evaluation License.
All information about expiry date, maintenance perioed, active Modules, owner name etc, is displayed for the selected license type. For testing purposes it is possible to temporarily disable active SPIP modules in order to try the look and feel for a specific modules configuration. This is especially useful for new users trying SPIP with an evaluation license.
Connecting to a Shared Dongle is also carried out from the License Manager and has become extremely simple.
Finally it is possible to request and activate an Evaluation License from the License Manager. This is intended for users owning a license with expired Maintenance Period who would like to try the newest version or users owning a license with a sub-set of modulea who would like to try the remaining modules.
Users who have no license dongle configured on the PC will be met by the Evaluation Dialog. From there it is possible to activate SPIP for a 10 days trial, or request a new evaluation period. For users holding a valid license there is a link directly to the License Manager, where e.g. connection to a Shared Dongle can be established.
| A Shared Dongle License Server installation program is now provided, so that setting up a dongle share service is much easier than in the past. | |

| NEW Particle & Pore Analysis Module
Detecting and quantifying particles, pores and grains have never been easier thanks to the brand new user interface to Particle & Pore Analysis and the new Best Practice Guide in the SPIP™ manual. You can detect any type of surface feature on virtually any background with just a few mouse clicks.
Four image feature detection methods are available based on two different segmentation principles: threshold segmentation and watershed segmentation.
Detected image features are shown in the image as manually drawn Measure Shapes and can be deleted, duplicated, moved, split and merged. Hence, the manual measure tools and the Particle & Pore Analysis tool are 100% integrated.
The detected features are shown directly in the source image, as semi-transparent objects, which can be colored randomly, with a fixed color or by a calculated parameter which is used for color lookup.
More than 60 geometrical parameters are calculated and reported in a spreadsheet like pane including advanced statistics and summary information.
All calculated parameters can be visualized by Histograms and scatter plots. This includes area- as well as volume weighted histograms which are powerful for presenting image data from e.g. ultra-filtration membranes where many small pores often dominate the numbers, but where the functionality is governed by the larger Pores.
For elongated structures, e.g. DNA, SPIP™ now provides visualization of the fiber, and calculates the fiber length.
Shapes can be discriminated on all more than 60 calculated parameters using Parameter Filtering.
The contours of the detected features can be smoothed; a great advantage on noisy images or whenever features appear irregular in the image even if they are not.
It is now possible to use one image for detection while using the height information from a second image which is useful e.g. when features are well defined in an phase-image of an AFM dataset, but the quantifiable information lies in the topography image.
Favorite settings can be saved and re-used either manually or in Batch Processing and Active Reporting.
| Batch Processing Module |
| SPIP Active Reporter improved.
New “SPIP DocServer” makes it easier to create MS Word and HTML templates where report items such as calculated parameters, graphs and images can be entered.
SPIP DocServer enables you to select among a larger number of report items. It is for example possible to combine two Particle & Pore Analysis parameters into a scatter plot.
The SPIP DocServer fully supports MS Word2007 and enables creation of HTML templates using any text or HTML editor via copy-paste.
